What's great about some of these cameras (not all of them) is that there are non-wifi versions which do not require to be hooked up to the internet. These non-wifi versions run completely independently off the internet and simply save the recorded images onto an internal SD card (usually not supplied with the device but which can be purchased separately).
What's also great about some of these cameras (again not all of them) is that they are battery driven and do not rely on being plugged into a mains supply.
Some are also camouflaged and can blend in with nature, therefore being discreet. Some are also weatherproof.
Although some of these cameras can be expensive with quite a few between the £100 and £200 price range, there are entry level models readily available on Amazon starting from around £25.
At such a low price, this means that you could set up a few of these cameras if you have a larger backyard.
Currently reduced at just under £57, this GardePro A35 Wildlife Camera has nearly 8.5K reviews and gets 4.3 out of 5 stars. It is a standalone camera that does not connect to a phone. Photos and videos are saved onto an SD card (not supplied). It has night vision, is waterproof and is slightly camouflaged. It runs off 8 x AA batteries (not supplied).
Always remember to check your own local laws / country laws to ensure your use of cameras remains legal.
