If you enjoy listening to music and you want to take a break from the external noise campaigns outside which you may be experiencing, then getting a pair of headphones could be right up your street.
There's a variety of headphones available on the market including earbuds, normal headphones and active or adaptive noise cancelling (ANC) headphones.
Personally, we would not use the earbud type as you should still keep aware and have a general awareness of your surroundings for things like if a smoke alarm was to go off in your property - You still need to be able to hear it.
Providing your hearing is good, you should still be able to hear what's going on around with just the standard, run of the mill headphones (that is - ones which aren't noise cancelling). Have your music set at a level which doesn't damage your hearing and where you can also still be aware of external events around you in your own home. That's what we do.
You can also get Adaptive or Active Noise Cancelliing headphones. We did have an expensive pair of ANC headphones, but they malfunctioned within just a few months. Now we have these headphones - JBL Live 770NC Wireless Over-Ear Headphones.
With these headphones you can use the JBL Headphones App to set the settings to something called "Ambient Aware". That way, you get to keep an awareness of your surroundings.
It took me literally 5 minutes to download the App and get the new headphones working. And for £100, these we so much cheaper than the expensive pair I bought previously.
Wireless versions, such as my JBL headphones, tend to operate via Bluetooth so you can connect your headphones wirelessly to your devices (where your devices allow it) such as making a connection to your mobile phone or making a connection to your TV.
However, just a quick heads up - I have an older TV set which has Bluetooth but it doesn't link up with the headphones so I can't use my headphones to listen to my TV set unfortunately. So, using Bluetooth (even if your device has it) is not always guaranteed to work.
I use headphones every day now. They are great for having your favourite music closer to your ear. When you listen to music, especially good music, it can make you feel better and put you in a better place. Listening to music is good for your heart and soul 💗
Headphones and ANC headphones vary widely in price, but you can get many decent sets for around the £50 to £100 mark.
Using headphones will allow you to get on with some of your tasks whilst listening to TV or music that you enjoy 👍
